BONJOUR,
Welcome to French 110, a course for beginners based on Rendez-vous , a method helping you to develop language skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) and introducing you to French and Francophone cultures.
We will complete one chapter every 7 days of class, having usually at the end of every lesson a lab session and a quiz.
Homework will be assigned each day in class and posted on the course web-site. Count one to two hours of preparation per class.
Grading: Determined by varied exercices all over the semester according to the following chart:
Written Part: Quizzes and projects 40 %
Oral Part: IN-CLASS PARTICIPATION AND WORK 30 %
In-Lab exercices: Pronunciation and exercices 15 %
Final Exam 15 %
As you will have several opportunities to speak each time you are in class, being in class is work: attendance is therefore part of your grade as an important factor of your oral performance. (In other words, missing several classes for no valid reason is more dangerous for your final grade than having a bad exam.)
Please note that there is NO MAKE-UP exam, except for serious reason. Make-up exams given at a later date will always be more difficult.
Any LATE ASSIGNEMENT is penalized (3 point off per day overdue).
